Most advice on lasting longer is built on myths: that it is all willpower, that pills fix it, that thicker condoms are the answer, that it is permanent, or that experience alone sorts it. The truth is simpler: it comes down to a trainable muscle and a few honest habits.

Myth 1: It is all willpower and in your head
Anxiety plays a role, but finishing fast is largely physical: a reflex with a weak brake. No amount of trying harder in the moment fixes a muscle you have never trained. See why you finish too fast.

Myth 2: Pills are the fix
Pills can manage the symptom for some men, but they do not train anything, and they come with side effects and a doctor's visit. They are a crutch, not a cure.
Myth 3: Thicker condoms or sprays solve it
They only numb sensation. That buys you a night and does nothing about the cause, and the effect wears off, sometimes numbing your partner too.
Myth 4: It is permanent
For most men it is not. It is a trainable control issue, and studies show real improvement with pelvic floor work (Pastore et al.). More in is premature ejaculation permanent.
Myth 5: Experience alone will fix it
Comfort helps with nerves, but if the underlying muscle is weak, more experience alone will not build the brake. You have to actually train it.
What actually works
Train the pelvic floor (the brake), use the start-stop technique, and fix the basics like sleep and alcohol. A trainer makes the muscle side easy, five minutes a day.
